If it is not working with the flashers then you may have a bad light or socket. Pull out brake light switch plunger to full extension. To replace the switch on the new brake switches you start with the plunger all the way out. Check all fuses and make sure they are not fried.

Hey guys both my brake lights stopped working on my vw polo 2001 1 0 someone told me its the brake light switch but my middle brake light closer to the roof still works fine which makes me think it cant be the switch or are they connected to the different parts. I highly doubt its the brake light switch as i replaced it 2 months ago and the left side and high level brake light is still working when the brakes are applied need to sort this out soon as. It could happen due to a loose connection of the wire or the corrosion or damage of the wire ends. Brake lights only out on one side.

Hi i have a vw polo playa 00 and my brake lights are not working but the bulbs are not burnt out a friend told me it is the brake light switch but can t seem to find it any suggestions. May be a fuse can anyone help thanks. If the third brake light flashes then most likely a fuse has gone bad. Many of the newer third brake lights are led which means they do not have bulbs and you need to replace the unit.

The simplest thing is to change the front parking light bulb and check that both parking lights on right side are working correctly.
